well my 60 gb that cost £479 pounds finally got the dreaded ylod.
my modern warfare 2 disc was stuck inside while playing, what a bummer.
anyways i got the disc out without having to break the warranty seal.lol
i wrapped it in a thick jumper used a hairdryer on the back vents for around 15 mins constantly, then let it cool down for 15 mins and hey presto it came back from the dead i got my game out and the ps3 lasted 4 hours then died the ylod.
i phoned sony who gave me a replacement after parting with £130 pounds,i got a brand new 60 gb with all the plastic type stuff covering it.
the only trouble is i lost all my offline game saves, not a biggy as i mostly play online.

Forgive my naivety, but what exactly is "ylod" please mate?...
My nephews love COD MW, but i'm really bad at it (Shame as i used to be really good at Unreal Tournament online way back on the Dreamcast lol) & they love playin 'Mike Myers' on it...

The Yellow Light of Death is a way for your PS3 to tell you that it's crapped out on you, and you're going to have to send it back to Sony. As far as I know, it can mean any kind of hardware failure. As far as frequency goes, it appears that the launch 60GB models are much more prone to have this happen due to a fault with the thermal paste that was used. But it can also happen on any model for any other reason as well (including 60GB models)

Thanks Will...
I'd heard of the Rings of Death thing on the xbox, but not hread of this ylod...I'm not clued up on it as i only bother with it when the nephs come to visit, so at least i can warn them about this...(They might listen to me now when i advise a break as they generally play for 14hrs a day when they come see me)
I think they have the 120gb model, but i'll dbl check this weekend to make sure...
