Sky Italia Activation problem

I live in Spain
Today I received Fulll package OFFER Sky Italia
I put the receiver and I entered the card, but I can not see anything
The following message appears on the screen of my television "Verificare
l´inserimento della Smart Card"
What happens? Do I have to activate the card in any way?

turn the receiver off for 2 minutes - then power it back up and leave on channel 109

it will soon come on.

make sure you put the card the right way around.that's what the messagge it's saying

also make sure card is inserted well in ,only about 1cm show out of slot ,
