hi all :happy:need to purchase a dvd remote control for my sons original older shaped playstation 2.

he got a loan of his friends dvd remote to try it and it never worked. it was a silver joytech remote model number js-918e.

now his friends ps2 was only purchased recently, its a very streamline silver one, so iam guessing (though not having a clue about games machines), that there is different remotes for different models of ps2?

so iam asking you the experts to advise me on a remote type and/or some further info about options ect.

iam sure u will all agree that using the game remote to navigate a dvd is a right pain in the a*se!

so wud greatly appreciate advise:wink:

it depends on your ps2 as some remotes will only work on a certain ps2s ie Official Sony PlayStation 2 DVD Remote Control SCPH-10420 - only compatible with PS2 models SCPH-50000 and above.which scph ps2 is yours.

Most of the high street stores should have a dvd remote for your PS2, but you might have to mention what type it is as certain PS2's will have different RC's...

thanks very much for interest:wink: but i aint got a clue what scph is, never hardly looked at the thing its in my sons room, iam more of a pac- man and space invaders kinda guy unfortunatly, however i will go and have a look and get back to yous.

also, i have been to the big high street stores who specialize in gaming equipment, and they all just seem to have the same sort as the one i tried, or the official sony model, dont think my boys ps2 has IR built in though:confused: an online retailer is selling one with a plug in IR sensor which plugs into the same port as the controllers do.

will confirm the model and if i can see an IR on it and get back to yous, cheers:beak:
